About the Author – Michael Bowker

Through his 11 books and more than 1,000 newspaper and magazine articles, award-winning author, Michael Bowker shares his passion for telling stories about the sometimes inspirational and sometimes illegal, but always compelling things that people do.

Bowker’s best-selling book, Playing From the Heart, is the motivating true story of Roger Crawford, a quadriplegic tennis player who overcame steep odds to become a professional with a winning attitude and record. Good Morning America called it “A book nobody should miss.” His powerful book, Fatal Deception, is an Erin Brockovich-style exposé of a corporation that secretly exposed its workers to lethal poisons for decades, causing tens of thousands of deaths. Bowker spent more than 40 hours giving testimony to the U.S. Congress on the issues raised in the book.  The prestigious organization Physicians for Social Responsibility wrote this about the book, “Bowker writes graphically and well and his story-telling ability makes the book sing….It should be made into a movie.” His book on corporate leadership, The Visionary Leader, stayed on the best-seller list of business books for 22 weeks, while his book, Winning the Battle Within, was called “The best book ever written on the mental approach to sports,” by the San Francisco 49er’s legendary coach, Bill Walsh. His work has appeared in: The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Outside, Reader’s Digest, Discover, American Banker, San Francisco Magazine; Wildlife Conservation and more than 100 other publications. Several of his dramas-in-real-life for the Reader’s Digest were turned into movies of the week and other TV shows.
